Rifi, from erifio …which means kid, as its name then, Rifi is a small farming village of Kefalonia. It has about 60 permanent residents and is located in the northwest of the peninsula Palliki. The main occupation of the residents in Rifi is of course livestock, and agricultural crops, such as the olive and grapes.
Traditional houses in Kefalonia, which has survived by the earthquake of 1953, when it was destroyed a large part of the island, you can see even today in Rifi. They stand out between the small houses with their roofs tile and small groomed yards. In Rifi, the main church is St. Nicholas.
The great painter Panagis Gavrielatos from Kefalonia (1915-2011) came from Rifi of Palliki. Today, in the village, you can visit the museum that houses samples of his work. Paintings of Gavrielatos now adorn the Ministry of Education, the Municipal Gallery of Patra, Piraeus Municipality, Paliki, the Philological Association of Parnassus and others.
Petani beach (mini Myrtos) lies on the north coast of Paliki. This beach is not so well known to British tourists as many of Kefalonia’s main resort beaches.
Approached via a steep winding “adrenalin rush” cliff top road, which allows you to observe the beach in all it’s glory. Petani is a natural horseshoe shaped bay with huge commanding cliff which tumble down into the sea. The white shingle sand clashes in a frenzy of exploding colour as the changing shades of dark blue cobalt waters rush up onto the shoreline with white frothy breaking waves. It can get windy here and the water can become a little rough.
Situated on the beach are two Tavernas. A life guard tower is situated on the sands, and the beach has the blue flag.
Local people are proud of their beach and local school children help to clean and maintain the beach.
The local people also call the beach “Xoura’s beach”, named after an old man who first opened a little tavern by the beach.
There is not much accommodation near to Petani beach, however there is a small amount development above the beach.
The plot is inside the RIFI village boundaries , the total are is 583m2 and the can build up to 240m2 ( apartments or houses or villas etc) .
The plot is only 10min drive to Petanoi Beach.
